How to apply for the Young ChangeMakers Program

Find what you'll need to apply to be a Young ChangeMaker.

Applications close at 11:59pm on 21 September 2025.

We assess your application based on:

  • academic achievement
  • your involvement in extra-curricular activities
  • contributions to your school or local community.

Step 1: Check your eligibility

You're eligible if you're:

  • a Year 11 student in 2025
  • planning to study at university after finishing Year 12
  • available for the full 4-day camp.

Step 2: Prepare your application

When you submit the online application, you'll need to include:

  1. a copy of your most recent school report
  2. a 300-word statement or 1-minute video about your aspirations beyond high school, your achievements and motivations to apply

Your statement or video needs to be created by you, not by a parent or your school.

You can also choose to include:

  • a letter of support from your school (principal or teacher) or a community organisation you're involved in
  • evidence of financial hardship if you'd like to be considered for a fee waiver.

Evidence of financial hardship

If you're applying for financial assistance to cover the program fee, you'll need to provide us with a statement about how financial hardship has impacted your secondary school studies.

You'll also need to include supporting documentation. Include 1 of the following:

  • current Youth Allowance, ABSTUDY, or other Centrelink statements
  • your parents’ most recent Australian Tax Office (ATO) assessments
  • a supporting statement from an appropriate referee (e.g. school principal, school counsellor, community organisation), indicating their working knowledge of the extent of your financial hardship
  • other documentation that supports your claim of financial hardship.

Step 3: Submit your application

Gather your supporting documents and complete the online form. The form should take you about 10 minutes to complete.

We can't consider your application if you submit it after 21 September 2025.
